HENRY ROY BECKLUND

HENRY ROY BECKLUND Retired Captain in the US Marine Corps, or “Papa” as he was lovingly called by his family, was called to Heaven and passed peacefully at his home on July 30, 2013. Roy was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on June 24, 1921, He was raised in North Arlington, New Jersey; came to Hawaii during WW2 and married Peggy Christian, He managed Lihue Store, then Kaumakani Store, and moved to Oahu to work in insurance for C Brewer & Company, then his own insurance agency, then selling real estate with Peggy thru her agency, Prestige Properties. He loved the ocean, travel and golfing with the Ono’s. He has joined his wife Peggy and is survived by five children, Linda Martin, Margaret Williams, Walter, Albert and Roy Becklund; five grandchildren, Alison Pahia, Leo Williams, Gary Martin and Andrew and Malia Becklund; nine great-grandchildren, Robert, Chaz and James; Leo and Samantha; Nicholas, Pepper, Amber and Melissa and a great-great-grandchild, Tatum. He was a remarkable man always with a smile and a song in his heart. His positive outlook brought out the best in everyone who knew him. A short service will be held at Punchbowl Cemetery on August 20, 2013.
