Her parents were Loren Milton Nelson and Nancy Shizuko Nelson, nee Matsumoto. Barbara grew up in Honolulu and was graduated from the Roosevelt High School there. Immediately thereafter she was tapped by an Hawaiian Dance troupe to go with them to New York City to dance there in the popular Hawaiian Room of the Lexington Hotel. Barbara was a Hula Dancer beginning at age 4 and danced in various semi-professional groups while growing up in Honolulu. This was her first professional contract and she became a lead dancer for her troupe at the Hawaiian Room. HERBERT MORIO YAGI July 14, 1931- October 12, 2013 Age 82, of Aiea, HI, passed away at his home. He was born in Honolulu. Herbert was a retired Fed Gov auditor at Fort Shafter and an Air Force veteran. He was also the Head Sensei at the Pearl City Hongwanji Judo Club for many years where the club holds a record of being Grand Champion of the Honpa Hongwanji Judo tournaments for 10 consecutive years under his leadership. He is survived by his wife, Toshiko; daughters Jennifer (Reid) Yamauchi and Dr. Celeste Yagi (Dr. Sean Holliday); 6 grandchildren; brothers Stanley (Jane) and Richard (Takako) Yagi; sister Jean (Charles) Tamashiro; and In-laws Richard Asato and Mickie Yagi.
