ROBERTY “SHORTY” HAYS
11-17 ROBERT SHORTY HAYSROBERT SHORTY HAYS Robert Arthur Hays, known as "Shorty" Hays, age 84, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2013. He was born May 12, 1929 in Dallas, Texas, and later moved to Hawaii as a child with his family. He attended Lincoln school in 1941, moved on to Roosevelt High School, where he excelled in track and sports, and graduated in 1945. Then he attended the University of Hawaii and graduated there in 1957. He also served in the Army during the Korean War, was on the Army boxing team, and later retired as a major. He worked for Pan American Airlines for 29 years, was a regular at the Outrigger Canoe Club, and bowled with the Pan AM bowling team. He is survived by his two brothers, William and Richard Hays, son Troy Hays wife Maria, son Sean Hays, daughter Kimberly Case husband Jim, daughter Robin HaysVelasco husband Pedro. Grandchildren Martha, Natalie, Kristina, Troy, Andrew, Noelani, Nathaniel, Rylee, Isabella, and Christopher, and great grandchildren Stacey and Malia. Private services.
