72Samuel Joseph Ellis III, also known as "Big Sam," "Kawika," "Butchie Boy" and "Mistah," 48, of Maui, a Kahului Elementary School and Maui Waena Intermediate School campus security guard and counselor as well as a music producer, died in Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Wailuku. He is survived by wife Johnette Lacno-Ellis; hanai father Mitsuo Kimura; father Samuel Ellis Jr.; hanai sons Kyle Takushi, Derick Sebastian, Keawe Lono, Joey Ponce III, Allen Prest Jr., Vince Saures, Drigo Casio and Kapono Hoopai; hanai daughters Shari Sanches and Michele Figueroa; brothers Jamerson, Shannon and Sean Ellis; and sister Sandra Kealohi.
