Montgomery "Buttons" Kaluhiokalani, 55, of Waialua, a well-known surfer who revolutionized surfing with his innovative moves, will be remembered in a celebration of life 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Kapiolani Park, next to the tennis courts. He died in Santa Monica, Calif. He was born in Honolulu. He is survived by sons Jonas and Mario Kaluhiokalani and Nuutea; daughters Alisha, Angelica, Andreanna and Nawai Kaluhiokalani, and Kiana Kaluhiokalani-Schorle; fiancee Hiriata Hart; brothers Noble Kaluhiokalani and Andre Thomas; sister Keahaulani Jardine; and nine grandchildren. Paddle-out and scattering of ashes at 4 p.m. at the Wall (Kapahulu Groin), Waikiki Beach. Memorabilia and potluck welcomed. Email akaluhiokalani@gmail.com.
