11-29  579964 Clifford NishinaCLIFFORD MASARU NISHINA Clifford M. Nishina, 101, of Honolulu, Hi. passed away November 16, 2013 peacefully at home; born March 27, 1912 in Holualoa, Kona, Hawaii. He is survived by sons Vincent H. (Carleen) , Lloyd K., Conrad M. and daughter Amline T. (Robert) Hayduk, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. He graduated from Mid-Pacific Institute, Honolulu Business College and attended the University of Hawaii for Accounting courses before starting his career in 1943. He was Chief of Finance and Accounting with the Dept. of U.S. Army and Air Force Exchange Service for 29 years and culminated his career with a 4-year special assignment in Bangkok, Thailand. In conjunction with his Government service, he was a Public Accountant and sole owner and practitioner of Nishina Accounting Office for 42 years. Clifford served on the Hawaii State Board of Taxation Review for two terms appointed by both Governor's J. Burns and G. Ariyoshi. Clifford served in leadership roles for various civic, professional and other organizations: Hi. Congress of Parents and Teachers, Palolo Lions Club (first Charter President in 1953 and District 50 Governor for Hi. 1960 - 1964), YMCA - Kaimuki Branch, Scoutmaster of Troop 141 BSA, Hawaii Association of Public Accountants (Pres. 1973-1974), National Society of Public Accountants (Governor, District XI, 1975-1979). After 45 years of his Accounting career, he travelled through-out the world and to over 40 different States with his wife, Helen, (deceased in 2003) and often visited their favorite city Las Vegas. Their desire to travel was further enhanced as tour escorts for the Travel Ways Agency. At the age of 90, he authored 5 books; of which 3 were published and donated to the library system of Honolulu and relatives and friends. Memorial services will take place at Hosoi Garden Mortuary on December 6th at 6:00 pm. Casual attire and please no flowers.
