11-22  HENRY KALEIHOKU CHANGHENRY KALEIHOKU CHANG Henry Kaleihoku “Butch” Chang, also known as Henry Kaleihoku Manu II, of Kaneohe, Age 72, passed away on November 8, 2013. Born May 5, 1941. Butch attended Saint Louis (8 years), I’olani and Castle High School. Upon graduating in 1959 attended Idaho State and Chaminade University where he graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. After college, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Medical Lab Tech; he served at Brooks Army Medical Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and Tripler Army Medical Center for 16 years. He also served in Vietnam in 1968. After retiring in 1981 he continued working as a Civil Service Medical Lab Tech at Tripler. He was a devoted Kaneohe Lion and a Lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Organization. He is predeceased by parents Bonnie W. and Anita Chang and Henry Kaleihoku Manu. He is survived by his wife Phyllis M. Chang, brother, Carl Malani Bilyeu (Crystal), son, Henry Kaleihoku Chang, II “Kalei” (Cheryl), daughter, Malia M. Chang-Santilla, three grand- sons, Henry K. Chang, III (‘Ekolu), Bonnie K. Chang (Ka’imi), Steadman K. Chang (Kahoku), and one grand- daughter, Felicia M. Santilla. 11-3 MICHELLE DU PREL DE CHAPOISMICHELLE DU PREL DE CHAPOIS After a world life tour around the world, Michelle lost her fight with cancer at 81. She was born in Paris, France. she immigrated to the U.S and worked for the Embassy of Luxemburg in Washington DC. Michelle lived in the U.S, Carribeans, French Polynesia, Australia, Tazmania and so many other countries. Her final years were spent in Hawaii volunteering at the Waikiki Aquarium surrounded by many great friends who helped her fight her cancer. She is survived by her ex-husband and true love Alex. Together they sailed with their two children on their yacht “Lutetia” around the world and found paradise in French Polynesia, there they created the Bora Bora Yacht Club. Her two children, Philippe is married and lives in Australia and has three children and her daughter Sophie is married and lives in Washington State and has two children. Michelle also has a brother, Andre and two sisters in France. Michelle’s adventure continues at the University of Washington School of Medicine Willed Body Program. Her ashes will be sent around the world once she has completed her studies.

PAUL W. CHING Paul W. Ching of Concord, California. The son of Quan Yuen and Pauline Lau Ching died on July 20, 2013 after a brief illness. He attended Punahou School, Purdue University and received a M.S. in engineering from Colorado State University. He worked as a civil engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Hawaii. His work took him to the western states as well as many interesting places in the world. Paul was a gourmet cook and loved sailing, mountain climbing and visiting family and friends. They will miss his wonderful stories and special sense of humor. There will be military services at Manoa Cemetary on November 4, 2013 at 11:00am.

BESSIE LEIALOHA MALINA CHONG Born Aug. 24, 1944 died of an aneurism on Nov. 16, 2012, in Irvine, CA. Her sister and niece, Darlene & Lisa Tamanaha, with faithful friends Maria Valaskes & Ku’uipo Lage, and daughters Patricia & Kahiwa were at her bedside. Bessie was a Waikiki “hula baby” starting her career at 3 years old. She graduated from Kaimuki High School, class of ’62. She is preceded in death by parents William K. Malina & Leatrice Y.Y. Grubb, and siblings Lydia Werner & William “Sony” Malina. She lives on through her children Danny (Marcy) Chong, Danielle Kahiwa (Dean) Chow and their 7 kids, and Patricia (Gary) McGinness and their 5 kids & 4 grandchildren, and Step-Father Merrill Grubb, and siblings Leatrice Lum, Bernard (Jackie) Malina, Darlene Tamanaha, Derrick (Aiyako) Grubb, Denise Dela Pena, William Malina, and 129 nieces & nephews. A beautiful remembrance dinner took place on Feb. 16, 2012 at Tree Tops of Manoa. Mahalo to the Malina, Grubb, Wun, and Chow ‘ohana, and loyal friends for making mom’s life meaningful and complete. May her life continue to serve a greater purpose ~ love one another and be happy! Her ashes will be spread at a later date. Aloha & God bless all.
