12-22 585289 Linda CabulongLINDA MARIE CABULONG Linda Marie Cabulong, 63, our beloved sister, passed away at home in Escondido on September 28, 2013. She lived courageously the last five and a half years with the reoccurrence of cancer. She was born on June 29, 1950 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the youngest of three girls. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Roberto and Elizabeth; and her beloved dog, Kona Bear. She is survived by sisters, Roberta Cabulong, Rancho Bernardo, Barbara Bell, Escondido, husband Robert Bauer, North Carolina and brother-in-law, Donald Bell, Escondido. Linda graduated from the University of Hawaii. While at the UH, she spent one summer interning for then Lt. Gov. George Ariyoshi. In 1973, she attended the University of San Diego School of Law, graduating in 1976. After being admitted to the State Bar of California in December 1976, she became a Legal Aid Society staff attorney for four years until she went on to a private civil practice. Later, she worked in the Family Support of the Vista branch division as a deputy district attorney. In 1985, Linda became the first woman to fill the position of appointed traffic and small claims commissioner of the SD Municipal Court, eventually becoming a Juvenile Court judge. She also served on the SD Police Review Board. She lived primarily in California since 1972. Twice she relocated to Hawaii for a time, also practicing law here. In Honolulu, she was a staff attorney for then Mayor Frank Fasi. She had, in recent years resided in the Kona and Keauhou area on the Big Island. In Kona, she volunteered her time with the West Mediation Center of the Hawaii Bar Association. Linda enjoyed the people she met in the law profession. She gave her energy and time with her law expertise to help people. This was her gift. Her passion was buying and renovating homes with her husband, traveling the world, gardening and golfing. She was a fun loving, well rounded person. She returned to California in 2008 to be with family. We love and miss her dearly. We are forever grateful that she was our sister. Her family will scatter her ashes in Hawaii.

LEET, ARABELLA IRIS CATHERINE Leet, Arabella Iris Catherine, a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon and Chief of Staff at the Shriners Hospitals for Children in Honolulu, died on December 15, 2013 after a sudden illness. Dr. Leet was born in 1965 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended the Winsor School in Boston, and graduated from Harvard College summa cum laude with a B.A. in anthropology. She received her M.D. from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She came to the Shriners Hospital in March 2012 after ten years at Johns Hopkins University, where she was Associate Professor and Director of the Orthopaedic Center for Children with Cerebral Palsy at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. She was a highly accomplished physician who was known for her compassion for her young patients and their families. She was also a distinguished research scientist who conducted and published extensive research on cerebral palsy, osteogenesis imperfecta, and fibrous dysplasia. Dr. Leet was the devoted mother of Kenneth Francis Nyman and cherished wife of Steven Nyman, both of Honolulu. She is also survived by her father, Kenneth Leet, of Honolulu and her brother, Kenneth Leet of London and Chicago. He is survived by his sister Vivian Ching Goo, brother-in-law Tyrus Goo of Camarillo, California; Nieces Valerie (Peter) Goo Anderson, Teresa (Carlos) Goo Escobar and Tyralee Goo; Grand-niece Elysia Goo Escobar; and Aunt Wanda (Arthur) Ching of Kaimuki, Hawaii. Wilfred graduated from Maryknoll High School; attended Georgetown University in Washington D. C. and graduated from the University of Hawaii. He worked for and retired from the State of Hawaii. He is also a Army Veteran. Wilfred enjoyed playing Bridge at Central Union Church and at the Ala Wai Bridge Club. He also enjoyed Correspondance Chest competition of which he was awarded National Quad trophies. He enjoyed reading Scientific Journels, Business and Investment Magazines, and Consumer Reports. Wilfred belonged to the United States Chess Federation, the See Dai Doo Society of Hawaii, The Ching Society and AARP. His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the United Church of Christ, 467 North Judd Street Honolulu, Hawaii.
