1-12 ROBERT ATKINSON HITEROBERT ATKINSON HITE Robert Atkinson Hite, “Bob” to his friends, died peacefully at Arcadia Retirement Home on December 24, 2013. He was 91. Robert Hite grew up in Hawaii, and graduated from Iolani School in 1940. He was attending Washington and Lee University when the Second World War broke out. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp, and finished his college education after the end of the war. In 1948, he married Catharine Leavey, his wife of nearly 60 years who died in 2007. He returned to Hawaii in 1950. He served in the Hawaii National Guard, and later joined Hawaiian Trust Company. He retired in 1986. Robert Hite is survived by 3 children – Charles H. Hite (Hilo, HI), Patricia Barton (Connecticut), and Catharine Dunn (Colorado) – a brother, Maner Hite (Volcano, HI) – five grand- children, and one great-grand- child. Service and celebration of Robert Hite’s life will be at Arcadia Retirement Home on Saturday, January 18, 2014, starting at 2 p.m.
