1-20 LIBBY MENDONCALIBBY TUTU KAHALEWEHI MENDONCA Aunty Libby, 84, of Pauoa Valley, Honolulu, passed away peacefully January 3, 2014. She was born November 3, 1929, in Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii, to Robert Hoapili Baker and Bernicia Kailiponi Lane. She is survived by her husband, Henry "Hank" F. Mendonca; her brother George (Genevieve) Baker; her sister Lillian "Kalani" Naihe; daughters Carol (Vernon) Rosa, Lokai (Hoku) Kekauoha; sons Kahalelaukoa Mendonca, Kukunaokala (Deedee) Mendonca, Kauinohea (Jernell) Mendonca; daughter-in-law Wanda (Bob) Mendonca; and hanai son, Veto (Mai) Baker. Two of her beloved sons, Henry, Jr., and Robert Mendonca, predeceased her, as did her beloved sisters and brothers. In addition she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great- grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. "Aunty Libby" as she was known to family and friends, had a flower-filled garden from which she generously made lei for every occasion. Her laulau were legendary, as was all her cooking. Her greatest pleasure was family and friends: to welcome and share with others, to extend her aloha, to cook and to entertain and to care for children-her family's children and those of others. She delighted in the sound of children running around her home, feeding and bathing them and always leaving the smell of Johnson's Baby Powder on every child that she cared for, a sweet reminder to all of the joy they brought her. In turn, as their loving "Tutu," Aunty Libby ensured that every child she raised understood the true spirit of aloha. She was an exceptional woman, active in her community, proud of her family, full of energy, and encouragement, and love. Everyone who met her recognized how special she was. We are heartbroken to lose her, but so grateful to have had her in our lives. Please join us in a celebration of her life January 25, 2014, 10am-1pm at Oahu Cemetery at 2162 Nuuanu Ave., Honolulu, Hawaii 96817.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
