Betty Lou Gray was born on April 17, 1939, in Honolulu to Curtis and Angeline Gray. Betty Lou spent a lifetime helping others through her career in healthcare and her love of cooking and sharing of recipes. She worked at St. Francis Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, and Kapi’olani Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where she retired before serving as office manager for her husband’s obstetrics and gynecology practice. Betty Lou is survived by her husband, Gordon Ontai, her son Laurence (Holly) Iwamoto, stepchildren Sidney (Stacey) Ontai, Lisa (Peter) Ontai-Stone, Laurie (Terry) LaGrange, Eddie (Cindy) Ontai, and 11 grandchildren. Her siblings include Joanne Tucker, Patricia Gray, Rickie Cavenaugh and Robert Gray. “The most valuable lessons my mother taught me are to never be afraid to speak my mind, never be ashamed of who I am, and to love the people in my life to the fullest.” – Laurence Iwamoto “During the many years we spent together, we did almost everything together.
