81Violet Tok Soonie Kaiawe, 95, of Hawi, Hawaii, a homemaker, former Hilo Tribune-Herald newspaper correspondent and Project Learn employee in Kohala, Hawaii, died in Kohala Hospital. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by daughters Alberta Bekgaard, Carol Gonsalves, Ruth Perreira and Juliet White; brothers Benjamin and Joseph Chang; sisters Florence Brown, Betty Trawick and Leina Begley; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. Saturday at Landmark Baptist Church, 54-3668 Akone Pule Highway, Honomakau, Hawaii. Services: 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawi County Cemetery. Lunch to follow at Jodo Mission Hall, Hawi. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
