3-8 EUGENE JOSEPH DUNN b&WEUGENE GENE JOSEPH DUNN 93, passed away on January 22, 2014. Gene was born February 12, 1920 in Oakland, California, the youngest of five children to Kathleen (Katherine) Healey Dunn and Wylie J. Dunn. After graduation from the University of San Francisco in 1942, Gene served as a US naval officer in the Pacific during World War II. Gene moved his family to Hawaii in 1955 where he enjoyed a successful career as a sporting goods representative. He was long-time member of the ILH Football and Track Officials associations. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine (Guthrie) Dunn. Gene is survived by his daughters: Mary Ann Piskun (Amarillo, Texas), Virginia, Joan (Robert) Hann, Regina (Jack) Suyderhoud; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hawaii Kai in early July, followed by a private inurnment at National Cemetery of the Pacific. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to your favorite children’s charity, as Gene always had a soft spot for children.
