FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

CAROL MARIA (OANIA) ANDREWS
3-31 CAROL ANDREWSCAROL MARIA (OANIA) ANDREWS Au revoir ma chrie amour Carol Andrews of Keauhou, Hawaii, passed away at her home on March 23, 2014 after a yearlong courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born February 25, 1954 in Bacarra, Philippines to Sergio and Paulina Oania immigrating to Hawaii in 1963. Carol graduated from Aiea High School in 1972 with honors and from the University of Hawaii, with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry where she was on the Dean's List for four years. She had a remarkable career working in the defense electronics business to provide our military with new and improved capabilities on future battlefields. She began her career at Rockwell International as a research scientist and then over the next 27 years worked for different defense electronics companies before starting her own consulting practice in 2004 and then retiring in 2013. She returned to Rockwell in 1989, where she met Michael Andrews and they married in August 1992 in Santa Barbara, CA. Their jobs allowed them to live in Corona Del Mar, CA and Old Towne Alexandria, VA (the two of them living separately on the West and East coasts for 2 1/2 years). Carol and Mike shared the same interests in traveling, cooking, and gardening. They spent yearly Christmas vacations on the Big Island where Mike proposed in 1991; as Carol was a dedicated Francophile, they traveled almost yearly to France where she made use of her knowledge of French. In 2004 they decided future retirement lay in Kona so, they bought land in Keauhou, developed a blueprint and their dream home was completed by 2007. Carol single-mindedly planned what their house would be from antique travertine floors to its terra-cotta rooftops. They retired to their dream home in May 2011. They began to enjoy the good life of snorkling, playing golf, gardening, and watching beautiful Kona sunsets while dining on their favorite gourmet home-cooked meals. She is survived by husband, Michael Andrews of Keauhou; brothers, Renato (Lydia) Oania of Cerritos, California, Ruben Oania of Mililani; sisters, Alejandra (Jojo) Aczon, Merlinda Oania, Flordelis Oania all of Aiea; a niece and numerous nephews. A private Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at their home on April 12 from 11:30 - 2:30. Please RSVP Mike at amichaelandrews@aol.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Kona.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
