James Emerson Kalani Iopa Sr., 70, of Kings Landing, Hilo, an auto mechanic and an Army veteran, died at home. He was born in Hilo. He is survived by sons Walter W. "Masao" and James K. II; daughters Mollie "Napua" Gardner, Charla Ann Brock, and Iralynn and Vanessa L. Iopa; brothers John Jr. and John I.; sisters Hannah Abitz, Vanessa Kepano-Iopa and Leeann Iopa-Nishizawa; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. Friday at the Hilo Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Services: 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. No flowers.
