5-14 LUZ ABANESLUZ LUCY EGAN ABANES Age 72, of Mililani, HI, passed away April 9, 2014 in Ewa Beach. Born November 13, 1941 in Makati, Philippines. After earning her Bachelor’s in education and additional special education certifications, she taught all over Oahu, including Leilehua High, and Wahiawa and Wheeler Elementary Schools. She covered all subjects for adults and children, but pre-schoolers were her favorite. She loved singing, dancing, and traveling. Luz passed peacefully in Ewa Beach on April 9, 2014, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fortunato Capistrano Egan and Celestina Barcelona Santos; sister Adelaida Egan Ortiz; and brothers Luisito, Bienvenido, and Ramon Santos Egan. She is survived by husband of 46 years, Patrocinio “Pat” Agpaoa Abanes; daughter, Angelica Egan Abanes-De Mello (Nicholas Charles De Mello); son, Alvin Egan Abanes (Michelle Yee); grandchildren, Aliyah and Cameron; sister, Natividad Egan Ramboyong; brothers, Ricardo and Romeo Santo Egan; many relatives and friends. Celebration of Life 5:30 p.m. Monday (May 19) at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel.
