DOROTHY LIN HOW WONG LIU
6-15 Dorothy Liu B&WDOROTHY LIN HOW WONG LIU Dorothy Lin How Wong Liu was a dedicated educator, wife, mother, sister, aunt, volunteer, church member and care giver. She had a kind, thoughtful and generous spirit. Dot was equally happy assisting students to overcome life's challenges, or experiencing and learning about other cultures through her travels, participation in the arts, and friendships. Dot was born on November 4, 1927 in Honolulu. After graduating from the University of Hawaii, she married Edwin "Boy" Liu and moved to the Big Island. She served in multiple teaching and administrative roles at public schools in the Hilo area for over thirty years. Dot had an active retirement. She held leadership roles in the church, organized English tutoring sessions for new immigrants, taught at colleges in Japan and China, and assumed central care giving roles for both relatives and friends. Dot died on June 7, 2014. She is survived by daughter, Frances Liu, son Michael Liu , daughter-in-law Lisa, and grand- daughter Kristen. She also is survived by her brother, Solomon Wong, sister-in-law Joan, and extended family. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 pm June 22 at Waiokeola Congregational Church, 4705 Kilauea Ave., Honolulu. The family requests no flowers and no gifts. Private inurnment at National Memorial of the Pacific. Arrangements by Ultimate Cremation Services LLC.
