6-26-642474--Marvin-DevereuxMARVIN KINGSLEY DEVEREUX Marvin Devereux, the son of Dr. John and Dorothy Devereux, passed away June 21, during surgery in Kansas City, his home of the last five years. A graduate of Punahou, class of 1955 and Lewis and Clark, Marv held several positions in banking and travel in Honolulu before joining the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce as its Membership Director. While there, he received several national awards for his ability to attract new members, hold them and increase revenues. Along the way he was a founding member of the Hawaii Special Olympics. Later, as President, he helped put the struggling charity on its feet, financially, organizationally and in community respect. After retiring, Marv and his life partner of 51 years, Bill Prange, traveled widely, living at various times in homes in the Kilauea Golf Course subdivision, London, Gig Harbor, WA, and Kansas City, Mo. Marv was a loving, affable and very social creature. He will be missed by many. In addition to Bill, he is survived by brothers, John (Medford, OR), Fred (Austin, TX), and sister Diane Ackerson (Honolulu). There will be no services. His ashes will be scattered off of Waikiki.
