KENICHI "KEN" WATANABE
7-22 KENICHI WATANABEKENICHI KEN WATANABE Age 90, of Aiea, HI, passed away July 1, 2014 in Aiea. Born July 26, 1923. He was born in Waipahu on the Sugar Plantation. He graduated from Farrington High School in 1940. He was in the Army with Military Intelligence from 1944-1954, under MacArthur in occupied Japan, then in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Retired from work as an analyst with the Pentagon in 1974. Volunteered at the Battleship USS Missouri and at Tripler VFW helping many veterans get compensation. Founded the VFW-MIS Post 110. Longtime president of Waipahu Soto Mission and president of the Hawaii Soto Mission Association. He is survived by wife, Michie "Miki" N. Watanabe; daughters, Lori (Richard) Binek, Linda (Jack) Reisland; brothers, Tsuneo (Susan) Watanabe, Kazuyuki (Beatrice) Watanabe; sister, Takako (Seichi) Endo; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grand- children. Visitation 5:00 p.m. Saturday (July 26) at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel; Memorial Service 5:30 p.m. Burial 9:30 a.m. Wednesday (July 30) at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl with military honors. No flowers, please.
