Mitsuo "Benty" Tachibana, 89, of Hilo, a retired Hawaii Electric Light Co. engineering department senior coordinator and an Army veteran who served in World War II with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, died in Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Amauulu, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Ruth; son Leslie; daughters Arlene Padamada, Diane Matsuzaki and Carole Abril; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation: 3 p.m. Wednesday at Dodo Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 4 p.m. Casual attire. No flowers.
