Richard Makio Hirae, 83, of Hilo, a retired painting contractor, owner of the former Hirae Painting Services and a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, died in Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama facility. He was born in Mountain View, Hawaii. He is survived by wife Corliss; sons Jason, Rory Dean and Kendall; daughters Carolee Okano and Lorna Hirae-Reese; brother Royden; sisters Aileen Iha and Katy Shon; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Private services.
