Eugene Matsuo Aihara, 78, of Hilo, a retired Verizon Hawaii employee and an Army veteran who served in the Korean War, died in Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. He was born in Waipahu. He is survived by wife Amy, son Keith, daughter Lori Sugiyama, brothers Toru and Raymond, sisters Chieko Hashizume and Sachiko Komata, six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Sure Foundation Church in Hilo, Prince Kuhio Plaza. Services: 10:30 a.m. Committal services: 9 a.m. Friday at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. No flowers.
