9-7 Marjorie Opulauoho.MARJORIE ANN MEI LIN TAM OPULAUOHO October 2, 1941 - August 31, 2014 Marjorie Ann Mei Lin Tam Opulauoho, 72, passed away August 31, 2014 peacefully, surrounded by her loving and adoring family. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was a graduate of Punahou School '59, and Oregon State University '63. She was a retired public schoolteacher who worked for the State of Hawaii for 33 years, with a majority of her years teaching 6th graders in classroom H-2 at Aliamanu Elementary. Her passion was learning, and she instilled the desire for education in all her children; at home and in school. She was a proud member of the First Chinese Church of Christ, Associated Chinese University Women, and the Hawaii State Teacher's Association. An overall sportswoman enjoying all sports, she was especially fond of swimming, volleyball and bowling. She will long be remembered for her ability to connect with whomever she encountered. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Leslie A. Opulauoho; daughter Leslie Lynn Opulauoho, sons Lee Keli'i Opulauoho and Lane Kaiwi Opulauoho, and a grandson Miles Ikaika Opulauoho; mother Helen Yap Tam, brothers Edwin S.O.A. Tam, Jr. "Boysie" (Lenette Lum Tam) and Alan A. Tam (Karen Nakashige Tam), and many other relatives and cousins. She is predeceased by her father Edwin S.O.A. Tam, Sr., and brother Norman A. Tam. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the First Chinese Church of Christ, 1054 S. King Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96814, ph 808.593.9889. 1:00 pm Visitation, 2:00 pm Service. Aloha attire. Donations may be made to First Chinese Church of Christ in her name. Flowers welcome and accepted at the church prior to service.
