Tatsuo "Toppy" Kawauchi, 98, of Hilo, a retired Hawaii County working foreman mechanic and an Army veteran who served in the 100th Infantry Battalion, Company F, during World War II, died in Pohai Malama. He was born in Piihonua, Hawaii. He is survived by sons Alvin and Brian, daughters Judy Fujishige and Bertha Mashiyama, sister Kazuko Mishima and nine grandchildren. Private services. No flowers. No monetary offerings.
