Harry Martin Bender Jr., 87, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Honolulu, a deputy director of logistics for the Army and a Marine Corps veteran who served in the 1st Marine Division during World War II, died in Florida. He was born in Chicago. He is survived by companion Sadako Connor, daughter Carlyn Strange, four grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation: 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary. Services: 6:30 p.m. Mass: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Nuuanu. Burial: 1 p.m. at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, Kaneohe. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to Navy League of Honolulu or Friends of Windward Wounded Warriors.
