Alvin K. "Sonny" Ching, 77, of Hawi, Hawaii, a retired GTE Hawaiian Tel supervisor and an Army Special Forces veteran, died in North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was born in Kaneohe. He is survived by wife Sue; sons Henry and Lyle Ching, and Errol K. and Scott K. Ishimine; daughter Noelle Hasegawa; brothers William "Bill" and Kurtis; sisters Geraldine "Geri" Farley, Lillian "Dot" Morgan, Nancy Char, Candice "Candy" Hee and Alice "Iwalani" Chigbrow; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8 a.m. Sunday at Hawi Jodo Mission Church. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Casual attire.
