FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

KWOCK NAM LAU
$nameKWOCK NAM LAU KWOCK NAM LAU died peacefully on November 9, 2014, surrounded by three generations of his family. Born in 1919 in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, China. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1940 & served in the US Army in the South Pacific during WWII. In 1966, he opened C&L Market in Chinatown. After several years, he consolidated the family business into Royal Kitchen. Although he retired in 1981, he continued to help with Royal Kitchen operations in various capacities. He also served on various boards: Chinese Chamber of Commerce, United Chinese Society, Lung Kong Kung Shaw, Leong Doo Society & Lau Family Association. In addition, he was a member of Lung Doo Benevolent Society, Luk Tung Kuen & American Legion. He is survived by wife Eunice, children: Liana (Charles) Benn, Roger, Phillip, & Lorraine (Eugene) Young; seven grandchildren & eleven great-grandchildren; brothers: Daniel (Susan) Lau & Anthony Lau; numerous nephews, nieces & hanai daughter Cathy Lin. Many thanks to Drs. Daven Chun, Robert Carlile, and Mark Mugiishi for their care over the years. Also thanks to the staff of Kuakini Hospital & Bristol Hospice. Services will be held Thursday, November 20th at Borthwick Mortuary, Makai Chapel, at 11:30 am. Visitation at 10 am. Burial at Nu'uanu Memorial Park at 1 pm. No flowers.
