MASAHARU SHIMODA June 17, 1916 - November 1, 2014 Masaharu "Archie", "Masa", "Haru san" passed away on November 1, 2014. He was born in Pahoa, Hawaii, the fourth son of Masaki and Tsune Shimoda. Dad was a retiree from Pan American Airways. An enthusiastic gardener, Dad loved to grow orchids, roses, fruits and vegetables. With his generous heart, he shared what he had with everyone. Always the "free spirit", one of Dad's favorite sayings was "ainokea", but he did care for his wife, family, friends and pets. Dad was preceded in death by his brothers: Masanobu, Masanori, Masakatsu "Bob", Masami "Sam", and by his sister, Kazuko "Kay" Takehara. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Evelyn Tsugie, his son Steven (Cathy) Shimoda, daughters Gail (Tom) Uriu and Maud (Charles) Nishimoto and six grandchildren: Barrie (Darryl) Miyashiro, Todd (Miyuki) Uriu, Ken Uriu, Kristin (Troy) Beard, Erin (Anson) Gutierrez, and Kimberly (Masaki) Teruya and seven great grandchildren: Bailey and Joie Miyashiro, Casey and Dillon Beard, Max and Maya Uriu, and Christian Teruya. A private service was held on November 13, 2014.
