FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Paul Hans Engelbrecht
PAUL HANS ENGELBRECHT 1919-2014 On May 22nd 2014, Paul left Honolulu, all of his friends and family of many years where he had spent over half of his 94 years of living and loving in Hawaii. Born, all these years ago in Oconomowoc, Wis Paul grew in his wisdom over the years, moving with his family of 5 brothers and a sister across the Midwest. His parents were devout Lutherans; and as Paul tells it "I'm a P.K." (preacher's kid). (All are deceased). A born traveler, reader, and ardent student, Paul graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Ia. Attended Northwestern Univ. at Evanston, Ill. and Univ. of Colorado at Boulder. Paul loved to recall his class of 1936, he remained the "most traveled" at their 50th class reunion. Paul's parting words are so memorable to those of us nearest to him. "I have served my county, and in my business career at Libby McNeill Libby as a controller; and most of all, I have served you, with my unfailing friendship to you. You have all given me the reason I have lived so long." Before leaving us, Paul wed his longtime companion and friend, Gerald Yacino, whom he partnered for 40+ years. This bond of love and friendship was celebrated at the St. Andrew's cathedral in Honolulu on Dec. 21st 2013.. just after the same sex marriage law passed. It brought much joy to both, and those who have known them and their devotion to each other. In closing, I ask you to remember Paul, just as you are right now. Hold his friendship close to you; and remember, it is being returned from above. (He Is In Heaven.) God grant you all his continued love and blessing for as rich and full a life as was his. I will sign as Paul's "spouse" finally! Release of Paul's ashes was held on Dec. 21 beyond the reef at Ala Moana. - With our fondest Aloha. Paul & Gerry

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
