HAROLD S. SEKIGUCHI (1925-2014) Dr. Harold S. Sekiguchi, age 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 11, 2014 in Reno, NV. Born December 3, 1925 in Waialua, Hawaii, he earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu, HI. He subsequently pursued a Master's Degree at Oregon State College, Corvallis, OR, then taught at Southern Oregon College, Ashland, OR. He went on to earn his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. After teaching at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI, and Drake University in Des Moines, IA, Dr. Sekiguchi joined the faculty at the University of Nevada, Reno, NV. Dr. Sekiguchi was a Professor of Managerial Sciences at UNR from 1969 to 1997 and served as Department Chair for 12 years. Dr. Sekiguchi is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Thelma, of nearly 60 years; daughters Diane Herak and her husband, Alan, in Reno, NV and Dr. JoAnn Sekiguchi and her husband, Dr. David Ferguson, in Ann Arbor, MI. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Kiana, Alexa and Brianna. He will always be remembered as a loving, caring and generous husband, father and grandfather who had great wisdom, humor and zest for life. A memorial service will be held at O'Brien-Rogers and Crosby at 600 West 2nd Street in Reno, NV on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00pm. Flowers will be gratefully accepted; however, donations may be made in his memory to the College of Business Administration, University of Nevada, Reno.
