DONALD A. CLEGG

CLEGG Sept. 28, 1927 - Dec. 22, 2014 Don Clegg had a passion for politics and conducted political polls for many gubernatorial, mayoral and other candidates and gained the reputation for being able to correctly predict, through polling, the outcomes of political races. He was interviewed by the New York Times for this expertise. In 2010, he retired as President of Analytical Planning Consultants. Prior to that, he enjoyed the challenges as Director of the City & County of Honolulu's Dept. of Land Utilization, Dept. of General Planning and Dept. of Data Systems. He was born in the Philippines, spent his teens in Victoria, Canada, and graduated from USC. He was a board member emeritus of the USS Missouri Memorial Assoc. and a member of the Hawaii Sons of the Civil War Memorial Committee and Elks Lodge 616. Don loved singing karaoke with friends and said "singing is optional, applause mandatory." Survived by his wife Glenna, daughters Sandra Clegg and Michele Yamanaka (Keith), and his sister Patricia Carver of Santa Barbara. Preceded in death by daughter Lauri Clegg. Celebrating his Life and scattering of ashes on February 9, 4 pm at the Elks Lodge, 2933 Kalakaua Ave., visitation starting at 3:15 pm. Casual attire. No flowers. Donations in his name may be made to the USS Missouri and Planned Parenthood Hawaii.
