FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

KENNETH GARY WOOD
$nameKENNETH GARY WOOD Kenneth Gary Wood lost his battle with Leukemia and a broken heart just before midnight, January 16th 2015. His last hours were spent surrounded by his family who adored him dearly. Born June 30, 1939 in Copiague, New York he graduated from Amityville Memorial High School, New York. 1n 1958 enlisted as a marine, Ken was stationed at Kaneohe Marine Air Corp station on Oahu, Hawaii. On a weekend break, he met my beloved mother Julia Kapohakimohewa at Makapuu beach and from that moment he enjoyed a beautiful marriage of 50 years until she passed away May 2011. My father LOVED playing many sports (baseball, football and basketball) in his younger years and then enjoyed competitive softball and tennis with his buddies when he lived in Hawaii. From these weekly battles, he maintained friendships that lasted decades even after he couldn't hit the court or links anymore. He shared so many stories and fond memories about his group of friends. He truly missed them dearly when we had to move him to Dallas. Ken was an incredible salesperson. The memory that I will hold dearest to me when I think of his business dealings was not all the awards he won as a top salesman year after year, but all of his clients who were loyal to him for so many years. When he retired the phrase they all shared with me was "your dad had incredible integrity". Hats off to you dad for doing things the right way. Survived by his son Derek, Daughter-in-law Tammy, Grandchildren Connor, Tyler, Kenneth and Jason. Sister Bobbi and brothers Robert, Donald and immediate family Diane and Ron. Dad you were an incredible father, husband and mentor I am so honored to be your son. Words could never describe how much we miss you and forever in our hearts, A hui hou kakou. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Ken's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org/Donate

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
