Michael George Heick, 96, of Hilo, a retired athletic director for Birmingham Seaholm High School, a Western Golf and Country Club swimming coach, an Army first lieutenant who served during World War II and a recipient of the Soldier's Medal, died at home. He was born in Pittsburgh. He is survived by sons Michael and Jim; daughters Renee and Susan Heick, and Carol Ris; companion Renee Verstraelen; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
