FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Danielle Corie Lapenia Kaimikaua
Danielle Corie Lapenia Kaimikaua May 24, 1963 - February 17, 2015 Danielle Corrie Lapenia Kaimikaua born on May 24, 1963 at St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu, a woman of grace and gentle spirit, died peacefully at home on February 17, 2015 surrounded with music, love, compassion and affection from her Ohana. Her hard long exasperating battle with cervical cancer was finally over and she never once complained; now she's pain free and in the arms of our Lord. Corie is survived by her loving devoted husband and caregiver, William Kaimikaua and her son Jordan Kealii Soto, a senior at Kahuku High School. She is also survived by her parents Inocencio "Sonny" and Shirley Lapenia, brothers, Kevin (Paloma), Sonny (Michelle), Donald (Beth), sister Shawna (Kainoa) Lapenia and grandmother, Sally Ramos. Their love and support knew no bounds. Corie began her elementary education at St. John the Baptist in Kalihi (K-8 grade), Moanalua High School (9-12th) and at the University of Hawaii. She loved sports and excelled in basketball and volleyball, leaving her mark in St. John the Baptist and Moanalua High school sports program. She was very athletic and loved the outdoors - surfing, hiking, biking, working out and even dragon boat racing until her illness prevented her from doing the things she loved. It was at the LA Times in California that Corie got her first taste in newspaper retail sales advertising. After LA Times, she moved to Texas and worked at the Houston Chronicle for several years and then moved back to Honolulu and landed a job at the Honolulu Advertiser. She went to the Star Bulletin for a short time but returned to the Advertiser, her last place of employment in Honolulu before relocating to Chattanooga, Tennessee and joined forces with several Hawaii transplants at the Chattanooga Times Free Press. Corie's work ethics was unsurpassed and was well liked by not just her co-workers but by all those that come to know her throughout her professional career and as far back as her elementary, high school and college days. Her communication skills and product knowledge gave her an advantage to excel in her profession. Corie had a "no fear" attitude, meeting challenges head on - breaking down barriers was her specialty. She will be remembered as being the life of the party with a never-ending sense of humor and when she and her siblings got together, listening to their exchanges would often leave others in stitches. She was a very caring, compassionate and generous person always putting others ahead of herself. Quick to make friends, Corie, with her infectious smile, showed a genuine interest in the people she met. Corie's life story is a tribute to how a person with dignity, character, courage, respect, compassion, generosity, love for fellow human beings and fear of God ought to liveshe left a void that will be difficult to fill. Our loss is heaven's gain - her spirit will live on forever. We thank the countless families, friends and co-workers who showed an outpouring of love and support to Corie during her illness. She enjoyed your visits, phone calls, texts and emails. God bless you all. We love you Corie Celebration of life: Monday, March 9th Nu'uanu Cemetery and Mortuary 2233 Nu'uanu Ave. Visitation - 4:30pm Service - 6pm

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
