ROBERT LEROY DONALDSON JR.
$nameROBERT LEROY DONALDSON JR. Bob died quietly at home on February 12, 2015, at age 75. His wife and son were with him. He was born in Washington, Pennsylvania and earned degrees from Pennsylvania State University and the University of Maryland. In 1964, Bob went to India as a teacher with the Peace Corps. Asia and its people claimed him and he returned twice as a teacher and administrator in international schools in Singapore and Indonesia. Together with his family he arrived in Hawaii in 1977. He owned and operated Aloha Business Press in Waikiki for 14 years before returning to teaching. He was an innovative teacher, taking his 8th. Grade science classes to Kilauea Volcano for field research projects. Bob never stopped learning and taking on new projects. He was happiest when sharing his interests with others. He loved tropical plants and filled his yard with fruit trees, orchids, and giant elephant ears. He planted some lesser members of the famously odiferous Amorphophallus genus. When his plants sent up their stinky spikes, he invited the neighborhood children in for a sniff and a lesson. He was always a teacher and a mentor. Bob is survived by his wife Elizabeth, son Robert L. III " Lee", and son-in-law Mikhail Stazaev. A memorial will be held Saturday, March 28, 10:00 A.M. at Pohai Nani - Good Samaritan Retirement Community in Kaneohe, Hawaii. Casual attire. Contributions to Hospice Hawaii suggested.

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased
