Darryl Henry Arruda, 66, of Hilo, a retired heavy-equipment mechanic and an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War, died in Kona Community Hospital. He was born in Lihue. He is survived by son Dustin, daughters Kristy Arruda and Angela Farias, mother Alice, brother Kelly, sister Nadine Horner, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation: 8:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hilo. Mass: 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
