James William Thorpe Jr., 65, of Kailua-Kona, a Navy commander, died in Kona Community Hospital. He was born in Hudson, N.Y. He is survived by wife Margaret, son James, sisters Anne Mary O'Reilly and Rosemary Bonesteel, and two grandchildren. Private services.
