ELAINE KUULEI KUPAU FLYNN Age 84, of Fresno, Ca., passed away January 11, 2015. Born May 3, 1930 in Honolulu. She attended Sacred Hearts, the Villa de Chantal in Rock Island, Illinois during the war years, while her twin older sisters went to St. Katherine's in Davenport, Iowa. She returned to Hawaii and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Elaine was the daughter of Colonel Oliver Homealani and Jessie Kupau. She was raised in Kalihi, one of 13 children. Preceding her in death: brothers Richard, Oliver, Gilbert, and Walter and hanai brothers Clarence Iona and Francis Higa and sisters Frances and Ellamae. Survived by sisters Jessica Maile (Jim) Kirk and Beatrice Pauahi Anae and brothers Lloyd (Maizie) and Winston (Jackie) Kupau. Also survived by daughters: Sherry (Bob) Chavez, Kathy Demas, Kim (Larry) Goebel, and son, David (Gail) Becker; grandchildren and great-grand- children. Her daughter Barbara Welch passed away in 1998. Today, May 3, 2015 would have been Elaine's 85th birthday. A family and friends Celebration of Elaine's life and special remembrances will be held in August in Honolulu.
