DEBRA JOY MATSUKAWA 1956-2015 Debra Joy Matsukawa passed away on May 27, 2015 at Queens Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Honolulu/Aina Haina, "Debbie" was a graduate of Kalani High School and The University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her love of animals led Deb to the Hawaii Humane Society for 12 years and most recently was employed by The Nature Conservancy. Deb was an avid runner having completed 7 Honolulu Marathons, and also enjoyed triathlons, tennis, hiking, UH baseball and new culinary experiences. Deb was a kind and quiet person who also possessed a strong will and determination that carried her through life. Deb loved Disney Land and always stated that it was the happiest place on earth, now her family and friends know that Deb is in a very happy place. Deb will be deeply missed and always remembered by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Peter Hisashi Matsukawa of the 442. She is survived by husband Mike, mother Elsie, brothers Alan and Wayne, sister-in-law Christine (Alan), nephews Sean and Dane, and niece Alana. Services Tuesday June 23, Diamond Head Mortuary 09:30- 10:30 visitation, 10:30 service. Please join us for lunch afterwards.
