DARIN RYO KOBATAKE (1965-2015) Passed away while paddling, in Maui on June 9. Graduated from Punahou School in 1983, received a BA from Grinnell College and JD from University of Iowa-College of Law. He loved the ocean, sports, and travelling. He played football for the Buff'n Blue, earned an all-star selection to the ILH-OIA game. After law school, he practiced international law in Bankok, Thailand. He then moved to Oregon to start a beauty school business, International Beauty Schools (IBS). Recently, he returned home to open another IBS in Kahalui, Maui. He is survived by his wife Lauanda, daughter Sophia, parents Warren and Linda, and siblings Dana (Steven) and Derol. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, at the Punahou Chapel from 4-5p.m. Visitation will be from 3-4p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be graciously accepted for Sophia's education.
