73Joseph Perry "Harbor Joe" Merkel, 62, of Kapaa, Kauai, who repaired boats and trailers, died at home. He was born in Kentucky. He is survived by son Jake, daughters Ellan Jones and Rebecca Merkel, mother Evelyn, brother John, sister Frances Evola and four grandchildren. Celebration of life: noon Saturday at Lihi Beach.
