ROBERT BOB DUFFY Bob Duffy passed away peacefully at his Ko Olina home on August 14, 2015 surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for nearly 30 years. After retirement from the U.S.M.C. he enrolled at Windward Community College where he studied Social Sciences. After earning a degree he worked in numerous positions incuding a position at Keolu Elementary School and the State Hospital in Kaneohe. Bob had many passions in life including running, refereeing OIA football games, and swimming in the Honu Lagoon at Ko Olina. He loved people. He put a lot of smiles on faces, everywhere he went. Bob participated in hundreds of weekend races while living in Hawaii. When he wasn't running races or refereeing football, he loved spending time with the love of his life, Marilee. Bob is survived by his wife Marilee, his 4 children, Kevin, Kerry, Keith and Kyle as well as 6 grandchildren, Kiersten, Kyra, Kyla, Kynen, Kellan, and Kennedy and one great-grand- child Kaydyn. Bob is survived by his brother and sister in law Daniel and Millie Duffy of Staten Island, NY and their sons, Christopher and Keith. Bob is also survived by his ex-wife, Lois. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth, and his sister Suzanne. A celebration of his life is planned at a future date when his children can all return to Hawaii together. No monetary condolences please.

Screenshot 2015-08-24 11.24.28NORMAN MAC MCLAFFERTY Norman "Mac" McLafferty, of Ewa Beach, passed away on August 7, 2015 at the age of 95. Born in St. Louis, he married his hapa-haole sweetheart and lived in Hawaii for over sixty-five years. He was married to Havana (Johnson) McLafferty for 71 years and was a father to their ten children. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. They were stationed in Hawaii, lived abroad and in the mainland. He was a family man, active in the Catholic Church, an avid golfer, lucky at the slots, and gave to many charitable organizations. He was an artist, loved to sing, and once sang with the Metropolitan Opera in St. Louis. At the age of 90 he landed a speaking part in Peter Berg's movie "Battleship" and an earlier part in the 1965 film, "In Harms Way." Preceded in death by his wife Havana Leinani (2014) his three sons, Michael, Dennis and Brian; and seven brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his three sons, Pat (Mary), Tim (Marge), and Dan (Sue); and four daughters, Norvana "Cissy" (Junior Tejada), Cindy (Smith Cobb-Adams), Maureen "Pua", and Kathy (Larry Ice); 14 grand- children and 8 great-grand- children; and one brother, Paul McLafferty. Memorial services on September 8, 2015 at Valley of the Temples Chapel, Kane'ohe. Visitation at 10:30 a.m. Burial and military honors to follow.
