ELIZABETH ANNE BROWN Aug. 02, 1926 - Feb. 26, 2015 Elizabeth "Anne" Brown of Gladstone, Oregon, passed away on February 26, 2015. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 2, 1926 to Arthur and Ethelyn Myhre. In 1947, Anne married Ralph Pierpont Brown, Jr. (known as "Red"). They raised four children in Kailua: Gary, Gail, Diane, and Keith. She taught for many years in private elementary schools on windward Oahu and retired to devote time to her painting career. Anne was a talented artist, skilled in both oil and acrylic. Using the name "Elika" she often sold her artwork at the Zoo Fence in Waikiki. Anne was a member of the Sweet Adelines International singing group, and acted in several local plays along with her husband. In 1982, Anne and Red moved to Oregon to be closer to their grandchildren and family. Anne is survived by her children, Gary (Maureen) and Diane; daughter-in-law, Janet Wells Brown; five grand- children, and seven great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Red, in 2008, her brother Robert Myhre, and her children Gail Holland and Keith Brown. A burial service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1st at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery in Kaneohe.

$nameKATHARINE ELIZABETH CLIFFORD Kathy Clifford, 72, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2015 at St. Francis Hospice. She was born in Honolulu on March 6, 1943. Kathy grew up in Nu'uanu with her parents Fridolf and Jenny Kling and her brother Tom. She married Michael Clifford on June 30, 1966 and had two children Diana & Pamela. Kathy graduated from Punahou in 1961 and went on to pursue a degree in accounting at Northwestern, which she completed at San Jose University. She was one of the original IBM programers at Bank of Hawaii, and after raising her two daughters she returned to help Mike develop and run Hawaiian Housewares. Kathy had an active lifestyle, enjoying paddle tennis, canoe paddling, and skiing. She completed the Molokai Channel, winning the masters division for Outrigger Canoe Club two times. She loved playing cards and tackling challenging puzzles. She also enjoyed gardening and was an excellent cook. She and Mike loved to travel. They travelled around the world experiencing different cultures along with creating wonderful friendships. She focused on the experiences that life could bring and truly lived life to its fullest! She was a generous, kind, and thoughtful woman who had the pleasure of having many wonderful friends. Kathy is survived by her best friend and husband Michael Clifford, her daughters and their families, Diana & Kevin Allen (grandchildren Kaitlin and Robert) and Pamela Jenkins (grandchildren Patrick and Lani) and her brother Thomas Kling and sister Pio Humphreys. Kathy will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12th at Thurston Chapel at Punahou, with services at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathy's name may be made to St. Francis Hospice or The American Cancer Society.

NORMAN MAC MCLAFFERTY Norman "Mac" McLafferty, of Ewa Beach, passed away on August 7, 2015 at the age of 95. Born in St. Louis, he married his hapa-haole sweetheart and lived in Hawaii for over sixty-five years. He was married to Havana (Johnson) McLafferty for 71 years and was a father to their ten children. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. They were stationed in Hawaii, lived abroad and in the mainland. He was a family man, active in the Catholic Church, an avid golfer, lucky at the slots, and gave to many charitable organizations. He was an artist, loved to sing, and once sang with the Metropolitan Opera in St. Louis. At the age of 90 he landed a speaking part in Peter Berg's movie "Battleship" and an earlier part in the 1965 film, "In Harms Way." Preceded in death by his wife Havana Leinani (2014) his three sons, Michael, Dennis and Brian; and seven brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his three sons, Pat (Mary), Tim (Marge), and Dan (Sue); and four daughters, Norvana "Cissy" (Junior Tejada), Cindy (Smith Cobb-Adams), Maureen "Pua", and Kathy (Larry Ice); 14 grand- children and 8 great-grand- children; and one brother, Paul McLafferty. Memorial services on September 8, 2015 at Valley of the Temples Chapel, Kane'ohe. Visitation at 10:30 a.m. Burial and military honors to follow.

She passed away on August 11, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia after a 3 year battle with cancer. She was raised in Kaneohe with her older sister, Cheryl. Jennifer attended Aikahi Elem, Kailua Intermediate and graduated from Kaleheo High School in 1990. She went to the University of Connecticut where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in 1994. After college, Jennifer was hired by Gerber Technology in their computer aided design (CAD) department where she trained and supported clients from all over the world. She worked in Connecticut for a year and then moved to their Atlanta office where she worked until present. In Atlanta, she met her husband, Tony Metcalfe, and they were married in 2011. Her life with Tony was the happiest time of her life until the day she passed. She loved cooking, shopping, travelling and photography. Jennifer cherished family and friends. She made everyone feel important and special. It's so hard to put such an amazing woman's life into so few words. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by husband, Anthony (Tony), parents, Jean and Don Hee, sister, Cheryl (Earl) Hasegawa; mother-in- law Deborah Metcalfe (Jim deceased), brother-in-laws Jim (Tracy), and Jason (Michelle) and nieces and nephews Rachel, Austin, Kristen, Jayden (deceased), Taylor, Pressley and Dayton, and her 2 pet dogs, Mookie and Jelly, along with countless friends and family. ROBERT BOB HIROICHI MIYAHIRA Jan. 2, 1925 to Aug. 7, 2015 Robert Hiroichi Miyahira, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, was peacefully taken into the arms of our Lord, on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Kuakini Medical Center. He was 90 years old and survived by his wife of 64 years, Betsy (Asato), son: Robin (Lily), daughters: Gail Fuller and Doreen Bartels, (George). Brothers, Yoshinobu and Wallace Miyahira, sisters, Eleanor Yonashiro, Doris Maedo and Amy Tsuhako. Grandchildren, Erika, Aaron, Kimberly, Casey, Kanoe and Kawehi. Robert was a military veteran in the US Army, worked and retired from the federal government and later worked 10 years part-time for the C&C of Honolulu Elderly Affairs. After his retirement, Robert volunteered at Kuakini Medical Center's Volunteer Services Department where he enjoyed being a companion and visiting the residents at Hale Pulama Mau. He was also a member of the Gaza Yonagusuku Doshi Kai, Ginowan Shi-Jin Kai Club, Moanalua Seniors and The Community of Christ. A celebration of life for Robert will be held on Thursday September 10, 2015, visitation at 5PM and services, 6PM at Nuuanu Memorial Park and Mortuary. Private burial services to follow on September 11, 2015. "You may be gone from our sight but you are never gone from our hearts."
