MONA VERONICA LING
MONA VERONICA LING Age 74, of Honolulu, HI, passed away Sept. 20, 2015 in San Diego, CA. A third generation Puerto Rican, Mona was born on Sept. 1,1941 to Manuel Colon Elisary and Clara Gomes. She spent her childhood in Aiea, attending St. Joseph's and later, St. Francis. After high school, she attended Honolulu Business College, earning a clerical certificate. In 1961, she began working at Pepsi Cola, where she met Kalford. Mona and Kalford were married in 1963 and shared 52 years of wonderful memories. Some of Mona's favorite pastimes were getting together with St. Francis friends, watching movies, sewing, and going to breakfast for her favorite meal, strawberry waffles. She loved the color pink and was often called "the pink lady." Mona is deeply missed by her survivors: husband Kalford Harold Ling, daughter Serena Mei Kehaulani Ling-Robison, and son-in-law Steve Robison. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 9, at Borthwick Mortuary at 1330 Maunakea St., 10:00am viewing, service begins at 11:00am followed by lunch, burial at 2:00pm at Hawaiian Memorial. Aloha attire; the family encourages those who attend, to wear something w/splash of pink to honor Mona. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or American Diabetes Assoc.
