FAMILY PLACED OBITUARY

Stanley Benton Snodgrass
STANLEY BENTON SNODGRASS Age 90, passed peacefully at home on December 5, 2015. As a member of "The Greatest Generation", Stan served in the U.S. Navy in Korea and aboard the U.S.S. Alabama during WWII. He retired as a Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman in 1963. Stan spent his civilian career in healthcare administration at Hale Makua Maui, Convalescent Center of Honolulu, and as President, CEO of the Healthcare Association of Hawaii from which he retired. At the age of 56 he earned his master's degree in Public Health at UH. He authored "Bugchasers of Egypt", a memoir of that country's 1948 cholera epidemic. Known to his friends and family as an avid reader, excellent cook, husband, father, grandfather. Stan's booming laugh and mischievous smile will be missed. Stan was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Fran, and is survived by daughters Nancy Tyau (Sheldon), Dani Kroll, and Sandy Poffenberger (Paul). Grandchildren are Allyn Tyau Sim (Taylor), Erin Tyau, and Ty and Jess Kroll, and Great-grandsons Taylor Joseph and Jacob Stanley Sim. A short memorial service followed by internment will be held at The National Cemetery of the Pacific on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
