YOSHIAKI SHIMIZU
831902-3 Yoshiaki ShimizuYOSHIAKI SHIMIZU Age, 99, passed away peacefully with family at his bedside on December 22, 2015. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Marie Shimizu. Yoshiaki was born in Honohina on the Big Island on May 11, 1916. He was an Eagle Scout, avid fisherman, artist and craftsman. Graduated Hilo High Class of 1935, University of Hawaii (B.A. 1944; B.Ed. 1974; M.Ed. 1976). Retired Architectural Drafting instructor, Hawaii Community College. WWII U.S. Army, Military Intelligence Service Nisei veteran. Recipient of Congressional Gold Medal, Washington, D.C. 2011. Survived by daughter Annette (Howard Luke), son Byron (Cynthia), five grand- children, Mona Higuchi (Fred Andam), Brad Shimizu, Erik Shimizu, Daniel Luke, Sera Shimizu, and two great grand- children, Griffin and Andrew Andam. Memorial service on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 3:00 p.m., National Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. Aloha attire.
