HERBERT TAKAO OTA “TAKA”
HERBERT TAKAO OTA TAKA November 18, 1929 - January 28, 2016 Dad was a Kauai-born, 1949 Kapaa HS alumnus who served in Hawaii National Guard. A certified welder who worked in Enewetak, Pearl Harbor Shipyard, and construction sites statewide. An avid diver/fisherman, he loved and respected the water. He had a wacky sense of humor, loved to tell stories, and enjoyed a good laugh. Survived by sister Flo "Nano" Kato, devoted wife Patsy Ota, daughters Jo Ann Ota-Young (Brian Young) and Lila Ota (Javier Sologuren), grandkids Bryson & Marisa Au, nieces and nephews. Heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Philip Foti & nurse Barbara, Dr. Linda Chiu, and St. Francis Hospice. Many thanks to Long's KBay Pharmacy for kind service, and to the Windward Mall coffee "club" for friendship, coffee by the gallon, and delicious treats. Memorial at Parker United Methodist Church on February 23, 2016. Visitation at 9:30 am. Service at 10 am. Burial Valley of the Temples at 1 pm. Casual Attire. If desired, donations to St. Francis Hospice or favorite charity.
