MICHAEL ROEDER
$nameMICHAEL ROEDER Age 88, a long-time Honolulu resident, passed away on February 4 at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto. Born in Tacoma, Washington, he was a graduate of the University of Washington and the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Following his arrival in the Islands in 1967, he was an executive at Milici/ Valenti Advertising agency for more than 15 years. He joined First Hawaiian Bank in 1982, serving as Vice President and Senior Vice President of Marketing until his retirement in 1994. He served on the boards of many community and cultural organizations in Honolulu, including the Honolulu Symphony, Honolulu Zoo, and Hawaii Public Radio. In 2007, he relocated to California to be closer to his children and their families. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen S. Roeder; daughters Harriet and Kathleen K. Roeder; sons John and Gil Roeder; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held on March 6 at the Vi at Palo Alto, 620 Sand Hill Road, Palo Alto, California. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hawaii Public Radio, 738 Kaheka Street, Honolulu 96814.
