75Anita Theresa Politano Steckel, 86, of Hilo, a retired University of Hawaii and Georgetown University teacher, former Peace Corps trainer and a former Hawaii County police commissioner, died at home. She was born in New York. She is survived by stepsons Geoffrey and Roger, stepdaughter Sara Raynor, brother Major Pascal Ronald Politano and two step-grandchildren. Visitation: 9 a.m. April 9 at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church. Mass: 10 a.m. Private scattering of ashes at later date. Casual attire. No flowers.
