Verneda Estella Thomas, 79, of Honolulu, a retired perfusionist, died in Kaiser Medical Center. She also was a volleyball player for the U.S. in the 1964 Olympics, a track and field athlete in the Pan- American Games in 1956 and an international volleyball referee and scorekeeper. She was born in Chicago. She is survived by sister Mary E. Love. Visitation: 5 p.m. April 8 at Nuuanu Memorial Park & Mortuary. Celebration of life: 6 p.m. No flowers.
